Final pitch feedback given by the client:
Feedback: Change the format to primarily online form with an additional print magazine.
Correction: I will change the format to being online based with an additional print format, by doing this it will allow me to have more interactive features than before. The cost for producing a primarily online format will also reduce the costs of production, however producing the print format will still require employees to write and edit content and to take the photos. Moreover employees will need to be either experienced or trained in using online software to produce good quality online content.
Feedback: Use a more legible font for the main body of the magazine, as the chosen font looks like its meant for a title more than a body copy. Similarly use less fonts.
Correction: I will use times new roman for larger articles, but I will also use the less text like font for articles to give an unconventional look to the magazine articles. Use maximum three fonts for the entire magazine- including the front cover.
Feedback: Remove the description about your target audience being more arty than academic as it closes you into a hole. The type of people who listen to indie music is a surprisingly broad target audience- many generations of people varying drastically in ages listen to indie music.
Correction: I will remove the descriptions about my ideal target audience, so that my new target audience is simply based on age and taste in music. Similarly I will also widen the ages for both the primary and secondary target audience so that the primary audience is from 16-20 instead of 16-19, and then the secondary target audience will be from 21-31- this may seem like a drastic age gap, however as the indie genre is quite broad it can appeal to people of all ages due to the different styles and categories within the genre.
Feedback: Make the mood board stand out, as by choosing brighter and bolder pictures it will help you in future when you need to create a colour scheme and will also help you when taking photos for the front cover and double page spread. By having a useful mood board you are able to create the mood for the whole magazine.
Correction: In order to make my mood board stand out I will include less blurry pictures with brighter colours to suggest my colour scheme, as well as some specific colour schemes on the sides. I will also include different font styles to give an idea of what the main body text will look like in both the conventional and unconventional fonts.
Feedback: Redo front cover sketch to make sure it focuses on one venue as that matches my USP, rather than listing a few different venues - contradicts
Correction: I will redo the front cover sketch to make sure it focuses on one venue and includes strap line details about the venue, such as latest or up coming performances.
Feedback: Go for an unconventional method to stand out more rather than conventional and blend in. In order to stand out in the market place you have to be unconventional.
Correction: I will take my photos in trendy and unconventional areas around London so that the backgrounds of the photos can be used for the front cover and double page spread rather than having to crop the model out of each image used. Similarly I won't look at any pre existing indie magazines as that would give me pre existing ideas and are therefore unconventional, not conventional.
